CryptoBlox is focused on developing mining facilities in Canada’s energy hub, the Province of Alberta, that will leverage direct access to reliable, low-cost, gas-fired power generation facilities.
Gas-fired power generation is a unique operating approach for digital mining, excess power generated will help to support the peak needs of the Alberta power grid, thus offering increased value to stakeholders.
The first planned digital mining facility, which will utilize up to 3.5 MW of gas-fired, cost-effective power generation aims to power approximately 1,000 ASIC mining machines.
Using a phased approach to build out electrical and enclosure infrastructure to accommodate miners, CryptoBlox is projecting to commission up to 500 kW per month of rack space, allowing the Company to achieve a total mining hashrate of approximately 100 petahash and with a projected mining capacity of more that 12 bitcoins per month in the first half of 2023.
Alberta Natural Gas
Alberta, Canada is rich with natural gas resources that are used for heat and power and can be converted to electricity.
Many locations have easy access to flare-gas, generators can be installed within direct proximity to flare-gas sources with ample room for data centers to be built using purpose-built sea cans or modular buildings.
All power plants in Alberta must operate with approval from the AUC, Alberta Utilities Commission, who oversees applications for Power Plants, Substations, Transmission Lines, Industrial System Designations, Hydro Developments and Gas Utility Pipelines.
With more crypto-currency-focused companies looking to Alberta to base their operations, the AUC remains committed to modernization, effectiveness, and efficiency in its regulatory approach.
